Canadian Society for Aesthetics
May 26 - 28, 2012, Wilfrid Laurier University and University of Waterloo
The 2012 annual meeting of the Canadian Society for Aesthetics will take place in company with meetings of other Canadian associations, including the Canadian Philosophical Association, as part of the 81st Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences. Submissions on any topic in aesthetics are invited. But special interest is expressed for papers in the following areas: (1) How science can illuminate our understanding of the arts; (2) The logic of narrative; (3) Ethical issues in any of the arts. In the initial stage of consideration, preference will be given to completed papers of 10-12 standard pages, accompanied by a 150-word abstract and suitable for presentation in fewer than 25 minutes. Abstracts, if submitted alone, will be assessed later and only if vacancies occur in the programme. Proposals for panels on special topics or recent publications are also invited, and should include names and affiliations of all participants plus an abstract of the subject matter. Participants selected for inclusion on the programme are required to pay CSA membership and conference registration fees. For graduate submissions included on the programme, we offer an annual prize for the best graduate paper presented. Submissions must be sent as e-mail attachments (MS Word or .RTF files).
