We are pleased that the 84th Annual Meeting of the American Society for Aesthetics will be held in Salt Lake City, UT at the Hilton Salt Lake City Center, November 18-21, 2026.


Shelby Moser (University of Utah) will be the program chair for this event. 

2026 Program Committee: Lindsay Brainard, Jennifer Judkins, Andrew Kania, Sean Murphy, Karim Nader, Stephanie Patridge, Matthew Strohl, Rossen Ventzislavov, and Nicholas Whittaker.

James Shelley

 

Presidential Lecture - James R. Shelley 

"What Is Aesthetics?"

 

James Shelley is Lloyd and Sandra Nix Endowed Professor of Philosophy at Auburn University. He writes papers at the intersection of historical and theoretical aesthetics, arguing for the reduction of artistic value to aesthetic value, the irreducibility of aesthetic value, and the objectivity of aesthetic judgment.

LODGING

We hope you will join us at the Hilton Salt Lake City Center to share in community and help us meet our contractual obligations.

Rooms (single or double) are $189/night before taxes and fees. Rooms will be available in the ASA's special room block until October 26, 2026 or they are sold out.

You will be sent the hotel reservation link in a "thank you" confirmation email when you register for the meeting.

REGISTRATION and MEETING RATES

Don't forget to join now or sign in to renew before you go to register, and please note the following: 

1. All registrations for the 2026 Annual Meeting will require a person to be logged in as a member.

The system will prompt you to sign in or join if you are not logged in when you attempt to register.

The system will automatically charge you the amount appropriate to your ASA membership. E.g., if your membership type is "Regular", you will be charged the Regular Member registration rate and will not be given the option to pay the reduced "Student/Unemployed" member rate for the meeting.

2. All registrations must be completed separately.

Each individual can register only once for themselves.

We are pleased to announce that the Newcomer Mixer, Welcoming Luncheon, and Business Meeting Luncheon will all be included in the cost of registration this year. To help us secure accurate headcounts, you will be asked to affirm your intention to attend any or all of these events when you register.

MEETING RATES (Early bird rates end on Friday, October 16)

Early bird registration: $170
Regular registration: $250

Student or Unemployed Member
Early bird registration: $70
Regular registration: $105

*Emeritus and Lifetime members will be charged Regular Member rates.

In special cases, limited registration waivers are available. Please contact the program organizer, Shelby Moser, at asa84thannualmeeting@gmail.com if you believe you might be eligible for a waiver.

The ASA Policies will be in effect for this meeting. The ASA National Ombudsperson, Charles Peterson, will be present throughout the meeting.
