The Southern Aesthetics Workshop will be held October 13-14, 2023, at Furman University. Co-hosts are Sarah Worth and Darren Hick. The program co-chairs are Jay Miller and Elizabeth Scarbrough.

Schedule (10/6/2023)

REGISTRATION:

Keynote speaker: Laura Leigh Morris, Associate Professor of English at Furman University and author of Jaws of LIfe

Program committee: John Dyck, John Gibson, Keren Gorodeisky,  Darren Hudson Hick, Madeline Martin-Seaver, Jonathan Neufeld, Sarah Worth

As more information becomes available, it will be posted here. 

Lodging: While there is not a designated conference hotel, we can recommend some places in the Travellers' Rest area, not far from Furman, where most of our socializing and dinner options will be (we can provide transportation to and from): Hampton Inn ($294/night), Best Western ($169), Swamp Rabbit Inn ($224), and a wide range of Airbnb, Vrbo, and similar options. SAW is happy to help those who are interested in finding roommates

Irene H. Chayes Travel Funds: The Southern Division will have $1000 available to support travel for persons with accepted papers who do not have institutional travel support.

SAW Travel funds: Give to SAW! The Southern Aesthetics Workshop needs help to provide additional travel grants for people with accepted papers or panel presentations, who do not have institutional travel support. ASA is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization and donations are tax deductible. Donate here

Policies on Discrimination, Harassment, and Respectful Behavior

The revised ASA Policies (effective July 12, 2019) will be in effect for this meeting. The ASA Ombudsperson, Jeanette Bicknell, will be present throughout the meeting.
