Conference Program (.pdf) as of 8/11/2025 The deadline for submissions (May 31, 2025) has now passed. CFP (Word) / CFP (.pdf) "Painting the Town: Novel Themes and Problems in Contemporary Street Art" aims to reinvigorate philosophical engagement with street art, building upon the foundation of the previous conference organized a decade ago in New York City by Nick Riggle (University of San Diego) and Christy Mag Uidhir (University of Houston). Riggle will be the keynote speaker at the 2025 conference and will give a talk entitled "Street Art as Aesthetic Practice: Community, Conflict, Critique." The 2025 conference will include invited speakers, submitted papers, and panel presentations by local artists. Themes to be addressed include street art and community, aesthetic value, commercialization, subversive power, gender/race/class, social justice, and advertising. Many congratulations to Marvin Milian, winner of the best graduate student paper for the submission, "Voices: The Polyphonic Visual Concert in the Street." **The 2015 conference on street art was also funded by the ASA. The 2025 conference organizers Shelby Moser and Tony Chackal both presented work at the previous conference.**
