Sandra Shapshay named ASA Delegate to the IAA

The ASA Board of Trustees has appointed Sandra Shapshay as the ASA Delegate to the International Aesthetics Association. Saul Fisher has been named as the Alternate. Four nominations of senior ASA members were received. The ASA Delegate
will serve for a three-year term from 2020-2022, and possible reappointment through 2025.
Dr. Shapshay will represent the ASA at these meetings of the IAA: Interim Conference, Bled, Slovenia, July 2021, and Triannual
Congress, 2022, Belo Horizon, Brazil. With possible reappointment, upon mutual agreement, she can be reappointed for the Interim conference (2024) and the Triannual Congress (2025).
Dr. Shapshay, Professor of Philosophy at Hunter College and the Graduate Center of CUNY, has been an active member of the ASA since she was a graduate student. She has served on the Annual Meeting program committee, has organized sessions for the ASA at the APA Central meeting, and has served on several review committees for ASA prizes and award. She has also received ASA funding for aesthetics workshops at Indiana University and co-edited a special issue of JAAC on
“The Good, the Beautiful, the Green: Environmental Aesthetics and Ethics.” Dr. Fisher is Associate Provost for Research, Grants, and Academic Initiatives and Visiting Associate Professor of Philosophy at Mercy College, Dobbs Ferry, NY. He is Vice-Chair of the ASA Diversity Committee and has served on the Program committee for the ASA Annual Meeting. For more information on the IAA: https://iaaesthetics.org/
