Joseph Zalman Margolis, 1924-2021

We are saddened to report that Joseph Margolis, Laura H. Carnell Professor of Philosophy at Temple University, died on June 8, 2021. Margolis was a long-time member of the ASA, serving as President from 1988-90. He is survived by many generations of aesthetics faculty and students who were influenced by his work.

The ASA welcomes memorial reminiscences on Joseph Margolis' life and work for the August 2021 Issue of the ASA Newsletter.  Persons interested in contributing are asked to contact ASA Trustee Aili Bresnahan at aili.bresnahan@gmail.com. Newsletter contributions will be due to her by July 23. The program chairs are organizing an invited session at the ASA Eastern meeting in Philadelphia April 22-23, 2022.
