Southern Aesthetics Workshop: Local Information

Conference Venue: All sessions of the Southern Aesthetics Workshop will be held at The Program Room at Pebble Hill, a small conference facility owned by Auburn University. It’s located at the intersection of Debardeleben and Magnolia, a ten- to fifteen-minute walk from campus. You can find directions here.

Hotels: The two best places to stay are:

These are within a block of one another, within a block of campus, and within walking distance to Pebble Hill. A shuttle runs between The Hotel at Auburn University and the Atlanta airport. If you plan on driving to Auburn, there are also a number places to stay near Highway 85 exits, including:

The Division advises against trying to walk from any of these places to Pebble Hill, especially in hot weather.

Travel: The best airport to use is almost always Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta. There are regional airports in Columbus and Montgomery that will get you nearer, but they won’t save you time, and there is no shuttle. Birmingham is farther. The shuttle from the Atlanta airport to the Hotel at Auburn University is operated by Groome Transportation. It’s a good idea to book a reservation in advance, which you can do here. If you drive, there is parking available at each of the hotels listed above, though I expect the two nearest the University charge. There is free parking at Pebble Hill, the site of the workshop.
