Applications Invited for 2023 Summer Diversity Institute

The American Society for Aesthetics is pleased to invite applications to be the ASA-sponsored speaker on aesthetics at the Rutgers Summer Institute for Diversity in Philosophy, July 9-15, 2023.   https://www.philosophy.rutgers.edu/summer-institute

Applicants to be the ASA speaker must be current members of the ASA. Applicants are asked to send a brief current CV (or URL of a current CV) and a brief statement (no more than 750 words) of the proposed presentation. The  presenter will be introducing aesthetics to undergraduate philosophy majors with little or no experience with aesthetics. The aesthetics speaker will be in residence for about two days with the presentation scheduled during that week for about 90 minutes, plus discussion. Presenters also informally advise students about North American doctoral programs and opportunities in philosophy and should demonstrate familiarity with these in the application. Sponsored ASA speakers at previous summer institutes are eligible, although priority will be given to well-qualified applicants who have not previously presented on ASA’s behalf.

APPLICATION DEADLINE: February 20, 2023. Applications should be sent to secretary-treasurer@aesthetics-online.org  A decision by ASA on finalists is expected no later than March 1 by an ad hoc committee appointed by the ASA President. The final speaker selection will be made by the institute director.

ASA funding supports the honoraria, travel, and lodging for the aesthetics speaker. The Institute will be held in person and the aesthetics speaker must be able to attend the institute in person and meet all COVID precautions of Rutgers University. https://coronavirus.rutgers.edu/

This will be the ninth year in which ASA has sponsored a speaker at the Rutgers program.
