We are very excited to announce the first pair in a series of presentations using the ASA’s new Discord server. Elizabeth Cantalemessa (University of Miami) and Hannah Kim (Macalaster College) will give presentations on new work. Here are the dates and times:
March 15, 8pm Eastern/7pm Central:
Elizabeth Cantalemessa, “
Funko Pops!, Counter-Strike Skins, & NFTs: Collecting Practices and Aesthetic Value”
March 31, 4pm Eastern/3pm Central: Hannah Kim, “How Fictional Events can be Past, Present, or Future”
To attend these events, you’ll need to sign into the ASA Discord server. Here are the steps to follow:
- Either download the app, or visit the site using your browser: discord.com
- If you haven’t already done so, join the ASA server:

NOTE: this link will expire on February 27, 2023. If you miss this deadline and you need a new link, contact James Harold at jharold@mtholyoke.edu
- Once you have joined the server one time, you will never need to do so again. You can simply open the app and click on the ASA symbol.
Discord allows interaction via both voice and text, and it also allows for conversations to continue asynchronously for as long people want to discuss the topic.
These two will be the first in what we hope will be many such events. If you would like to make a presentation in this series, please contact James Harold at jharold@mtholyoke.edu.
