Inaugural Juries Committee Announced

The new Juries Committee was established by the ASA Board of Trustees on December 2, 2024. The Committee’s task is to appoint jurors to ASA Awards and Prize Committees, subject to the approval of the ASA President. The Committee will have 5 members and will be composed as follows: 1 member is a trustee appointed by the ASA President; 1 is designated by the Diversity Committee; 1 is designated by the Feminist Caucus; and two are appointed by the Board of Trustees upon consideration of candidates recommended by the Appointments Committee. The term for each member is 2 years, renewable once.

The Committee will continue with the existing ASA practice, commencing January 2025, of announcing the names of all persons who served as jurors in the previous two calendar year, listed alphabetically and with no indication of which prize/award each reviewed. Committee members shall maintain confidentiality in perpetuity of the names of persons serving as jurors selected while they were on the committee or by previous committees, except within the context of official business of the committee.
