At a meeting held in Gui’yang on October 18, 1995 hosted by Shandong Society for Aesthetics, it was decided to launch an academic periodical for Oriental Aesthetics and Culture. The aim of the periodical is to promote worldwide cooperation of aesthetics. More than fifty scholars from eleven provinces of China took part in the meeting. All the participants hope that oriental aesthetics will serve for human beings all over the world. Thus there were four subjects in the meeting: classical Chinese aesthetics and traditional Chinese culture; traditional Chinese aesthetics for literature and art; the thoughts of famous classical Chinese aestheticians; traditional Chinese applied aesthetics. At the end Professor Zhou Lai Xiang (the initiator and organizer of the meeting) made an ebullient speech about the trend of aesthetics in the world.

A meeting for the 45th anniversary of Professor Zhou Lai Xiang’s academic activity was held in Hua’i district of Gu’yang city on October 21, 1995. It was hosted by seven institutions from different provinces. Professor Zhou has set up a special system of aesthetics in China. The methodology, category, paradigm and feature of Professor Zhou’s aesthetics system were discussed in the meeting. Professor Zhou Lai Xiang decided to be the chief-editor for a series of books about oriental aesthetics. All the books will be published within ten years one by one. During the meeting many well-known scholars such as Ji Xian Lin (Beijing University), Jiang Kong yang (Fudan University) and Liu Gang Ji (Wuhan University) sent their congratulatory telegrams to Professor Zhou Lai Xiang.
