The American Society for Aesthetics is pleased to announce that two community members have recently received ASA awards.
Joseph Kassman-Tod (California State University Fullerton) has won the 2025 John Fisher Memorial Prize for an article entitled "Towards Ideas: A Kantian Aesthetic Virtue," which will be published in a forthcoming edition of The Journal of Aesthetics and Art Criticism. Kassman-Tod will also be offered the opportunity to present a paper on this essay at the ASA's 83rd Annual Meeting in Baltimore, MD this fall. The John Fisher Memorial Prize is a biennial honor awarded to the author of an original essay in aesthetics, created in memory of the late John Fisher, editor of JAAC from 1973 to 1988. It is designed to foster the development of new voices and talent in the field of aesthetics. Hadley Newton (CUNY Graduate Center) has been awarded an ASA Dissertation Fellowship to support the completion of her dissertation entitled "Between Figure and Ground: A History of Art and Gestalt Psychology in the United Kingdom and the United States, 1950-1975." Newton's fellowship will begin in August 2025 and will support one year of research and writing. Many thanks to all who applied for these awards in 2025, and to all who served as reviewers for them. Congratulations, Joseph and Hadley!
